I’ve spent most of the evening try to avoid the scores from the football on tv tonight. It’s one of my personal annoyances that friends will try and tease me about the score, even when I’ve expressly warned the that I don’t want to know. This is made harder by my route home from work, which tends to take me past several large screens in shop windows, as well as seeing the late edition of the newspaper on the Tube carriage seats. Most of the time I know where not to look, and which friends to avoid. I sometimes even switch off my phone to avoid flashing scores, or receiving an unwanted text message. Websites are also a problem, with many featuring results in the headline of a page. Most of the time I’m able to avoid the score without going to too much trouble though, and the reward is being able to watch the recorded match when I get home. That’s if I remembered to record it though.
